QB file size too large to transfer to online. Is there a way to downsize my file so I can switch to online QB?

I was told by a QB rep that our Contractor Enterprise file is too large to transfer to QB online without losing information. We really need to get it switched to the online version for work purposes. Is there a way to downsize our current file size without losing info. I heard that you can break down years somehow? We have information stored all the way back to 2004.

Greetings, Tony57.

Welcome to the Community space. I want to make sure you'll be able to import data successfully to QuickBooks Online.

Importing data to QuickBooks Online from Desktop has a limit of 350,000 targets. Since file size (MB) doesn't matter when migrating data, you can condense your company file to make it smaller.

I'll include an article below for the detailed steps on how to perform the Condense process:

Condense your QuickBooks Desktop file for import to QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know if you need further assistance with migrating your data. Just post your comment below, and the Community Team will be sure to get back to you.

Thank you for your response. Our QB has 923,174 targets. We're using the Enterprise Contractor Edition. We've been storing info since 2004 and we rely heavily on that old data when looking back on old customer invoices. We are in the process of upgrading to new computers and a faster internet connection. I'm also trying to set it up so I can work from home, which is why we were looking to move to an online version. I've heard that because we have such a large file and are using Enterprise that it is recommended that a QB remote system be used instead of attempting to upgrade to online. What are your thoughts on this?
