Quickbooks data on Google Drive

I'd like to know if there is any problem with having our Quickbooks data on a Google Drive.

We currently have the data location mapped as a logical drive (Q:) and would like to have the Quickbooks data reside on that drive. We will be using a multi-user license to allow multiple users' access to the data. I just want confirmation that Quickbooks doesn't care where the data physically resides (shared folder on a dedicated server, or peer server), as long as there is a logical drive that points to the data and that there is a license for each user accessing the data.

Thanks!

Quickbooks data on Google Drive

Hi there, Vighpyr.

I'm here to share insight on how you can map QuickBooks data.

Yes, you'll have the option to save your QuickBooks data on any physical drive available. I'll guide you how.

These are the steps for Windows 8/10:

1. On your keyboard, press the Windows icon.

2. Type This PC in the search bar. From the search results, click This PC.

3. Under the Computer tab, select Map a network drive.

4. Select any unused drive letter then hit Browse.

5. Go to the network location where your QuickBooks company file is stored.
(Note: If you're having trouble mapping the network drive using the UNC, try using the IP address of the server.)

6. Select OK then Finish.

7. Reopen your QuickBooks company file from the new mapped drive.

I'll include this article on how to set up and install a multi-user network for QuickBooks Desktop. This contains detailed steps for the installation and data access to other computers.

Quickbooks data on Google Drive

GDrive is for the backup purpose. Their platform doesn't support to run QB in multi-user mode. You may have 2 options:

1. Deploy a private cloud.

2. Utilize an authorized QB hosting provider.
