Buy nowWe are running Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus 2024 Release 8 in a multi-user setup. One Server with the company file which is shared with three desktop computers for multi-user access (Client/Server setups). We are looking to upgrade the setup to version/release R11. Are there specific procedures when upgrading a client/server setup of Desktop Pro Plus 2024 to new releases?
Old instructions for 2022 <> 2023 <> 2024 had us copying the company file to local computer, rebuilding it and upgrading the local computer and company file and then moving it back to the server with the upgraded software there. Now that we are on 2024, what are the new upgrade procedures for upgrading releases?
We have this link:
If its this simple, do we upgrade the server quickbooks 2024 install in-place and then upgrade the desktops?
Thank you for your assistance and feedback-

Good evening, @ttatum94.
Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the QuickBooks Community. How's your day going so far? I hope all is well.
You're on the right track. Updating to the new release will use the same steps you've shared and you can follow the guide from the link you posted here.
You'll want to ensure you update your server before starting on the workstations. This is because the workstations won't open the company file without an error if the server doesn't match them.
I hope this helps clear things up for you. Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. I'm happy to lend a hand. Have a good one!
