Quickbooks Pro 2017 Timer

The Quickbooks Pro 2017 Timer program is not installing on a new computer running Windows 10. I keep getting an error message.  The installation has worked before in similar computers.  I tried finding a Timer update download online but it is impossible to locate from Intuit.  I tried chatting with someone at the Intuit help site but the person did not know what Timer was.   I don't know what to do at this point.

Quickbooks Pro 2017 Timer

Hi there, @dmckee.

Allow me to help share information about Pro Timer.

The QuickBooks Pro Timer is a program that runs independently and is installed separately from QuickBooks Desktop for Windows. With Pro Timer, you can track time:

  • Spent on a task by running the Pro Timer or by entering the time worked
  • Without running QuickBooks
  • On computers on which QuickBooks is not installed (computers used by owners, partners, employees, or subcontractors)

After tracking time activities, you can export time data from Pro Timer and import it into QuickBooks for invoicing and payroll activities.

As of now, the Pro Timer is no longer available and it was already discontinued since it's not compatible with the latest operating system (OS) update. This is the reason why you can't install this on your computer.

However, if you wish to, you can look for a third-party application in our App Center.

If you have any other QuickBooks questions, feel free to add a post/comment below. I'll be happy to help you!

Quickbooks Pro 2017 Timer

Are there different versions of the QB Timer?  Your post was almost 2 years ago and we are using it in Windows 10 and exporting timer activities to  QB 2018 Accountant successfully.

Question is:  will timer activities created in the Timer, import successfully to the new QB 2021 Accountant DESKTOP?

I appreciate you for joining the thread, @3684.

I can share with you some additional information about the QuickBooks Pro Timer.

Yes, there are different versions of QuickBooks Pro Timer. However, the Pro Timer is no longer supported with QuickBooks Desktop. If you wish to import your activities, you can manually enter them into QuickBooks Desktop Accountant 2021. Or, you can look for a third-party application that's compatible with QuickBooks in tracking your employees' data.

You can open this link and look for an application that works with QuickBooks Desktop: Apps for QuickBooks Desktop.

@3684

If you are still able to use it with QBD 2018, it should work with any QBD versions. I am not sure about it yet you should try. Otherwise consider using a time tracker app to integrate with your QBD.
