Quickbooks Self-Employed app

I've used Quickbooks Self-Employed for years and have always used the app. But now the app (which I did not delete or sign out of) says it's no longer accepting new sign-ups and is telling me to download the Quickbooks Accounting app to "try our new offering for one-person businesses". So I downloaded it and tried to sign in and it says it can't sign me in because it's only for Quickbooks Online and to go redownload Self-Employed from the App Store. I can't do that because it's already downloaded, it's just not allowing to me to sign in.

So upon further research, I see they've canceled the app but it should still be available to existing users. This is not the case as I can't log on through the app. But apparently there is new software called Solopreneur. Currently I'm paying $6.00/mo for Self-Employed and it looks like Solopreneur is $10/mo for the first 3 months and then $20/mo after that. This is a significant price jump that I don't want to make. Also, it looks like you have to create a whole new account for Solopreneur so I'm also wondering if all of my Self-Employed info will transfer over. I can still log on through the web browser but I use my phone to track my miles and I do a lot of business on the go and don't always have my laptop.

Very inconvenient, I don't understand why they couldn't have just updated the old app and made better features available as optional higher-priced plans. I feel like I'm going in circles and being forced to pay a lot more a month, even though I've been a loyal customer for years.

Quickbooks Self-Employed app

I acknowledge the challenges you are currently experiencing with QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), egornall. Let me help you address this so you can use your QBSE app without issues.

To start, it's important to note that QBSE is no longer available. However, existing users can still update their QBSE app from Google Play Store or Appstore if you haven't deleted your QBSE app from your mobile phone. Kindly follow these steps:

For iOS users:

  1. Go to the App Store, then select your profile icon.
  2. Go to QuickBooks Workforce, and select Update.

For Android users:

  1. Open the Google Play Store.
  2. Select the profile icon, then select Manage apps and devices.
  3. Under the Overview tab, select Updates available.
  4. Next to the Workforce app, select Update.

Afterward, login to your QBSE again and see if you can now access it. If issue persists, it's best to follow these steps:

  • Change the Wifi data connection on your device to 4G (varies by device).
  • Close and restart the app.
  • Clear app data by opening your device Settings, select Apps (varies by device), choose QBSE app from the list then select Storage, and click clear data.

On the other hand, concerning the price increase and transition from $6/month for QuickBooks Self-Employed to $20/month for Solopreneur is understandably steep. This new platform includes additional features designed for growing businesses.

Also, existing data in QuickBooks Self-Employed doesn't automatically transfer to Solopreneur. You'll need to manually export and import your data for automated transfer options.
