We've just set up a server, to centrally store all our data, including the Quickbooks company file.
I've installed Quickbooks Database Server Manager on the server, and placed our company file in one of the drives on the server.
If QuickbooksDB27 service is not logged into the Local System Account option; my user computers cant access the company file (they get H202 & H203 errors, "already running on another computer"...) and the Database Server Manager scan comes up with multiple errors like Server 2017 not running etc.
With QuickbooksDB27 logged into the Local System Account option I have no problems at all. Why is it not a permanent solution ? What should I do instead?
I've tried reinstalling Quickbooks but that didn't help.
Hey there, dblaha.
Thanks for being part of the QuickBooks Community. I’m here to help get past the error, so you’ll be able to use the multi-user mode seamlessly.
This error occurs when a user tries to access a company file placed on another computer, and the copy of QuickBooks cannot reach the server on that device. You’ll have to use the QuickBooks Database Server Manager to fix this.
Here's how:

I've done that already. The file is located on the server, I've used Quickbooks Database server manager. Located the file and done the scan, and that's when I get the errors.
I've done that already.
The company file is located on the server. I have Quickbooks Database Server manager installed on the server, I locate the company file and run the scan. That's when I get the errors.
I followed the steps in this link (https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Getting-Started/The-QuickBooksDBXX-service-on-Local-Computer...
My question is with #4 of solution 3:
"On the Log On tab, select Local System account, then select OK.
Note: This is not a permanent solution. Leaving the service logged on as Local System account is a security risk, and this option should only be enabled temporarily for the purpose of completing the troubleshooting step."
If this cannot be used as a permanent solution, what can I do? Reinstalling did'nt resolve anything for me.
Hello dblaha,
I'm here to provide some additional clarification on your question regarding the steps in the article.
Logging in as Local System account through the Log On tab is only done during the troubleshooting of the issue. You may need to switch it back after following the steps in the article.
Since following the steps above don't work and you already done all the necessary troubleshooting, I recommend giving us a call this time. Our Phone Support Team will be able to perform screen sharing with you to perform additional troubleshooting for the error.
