Sonoma Update Crashed QB Server

I can share some information about the error you're having when trying to open your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac and help you with resolving them, @AVIDPgh

The error you're having when trying to open QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) on your Mac can be resolved by by holding down the Command button while opening the program. If the error persists, there's a known issue when attempting to open QuickBooks for Mac on Sonoma OS (v14). Customers have reported being unable to open QB Mac on the new Sonoma OS and receiving and causing Crash Catcher. Our Product Engineering team is aware of this problem and is currently working on a fix.

In the meantime, I suggest contacting our Customer Support Team, so you'll be added to the list of affected users and receive an email notification once we resolve the issue. If you are unable to access your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, you can click on the What can we help you with? link. From there, select QuickBooks for Mac from the dropdown menu and provide all the necessary information about your concern. Then, let them add you to Investigation No. 94417. Here's more information about our different types of support and their availability: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support

I also suggest creating a backup of your company file at the end of every session to restore your company file in case you encounter any errors: Back up your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac company file

Let me know if you need further help resolving the error when trying to open your QuickBooks. I'm always glad to help in any way I can. Have a great rest of the day!

Sonoma Update Crashed QB Server

I am not having issues with Quickbooks itself, it's Quickbooks Server and the command button doesn't fix that.

I was using 2023, I upgraded to 2024 and it worked for a while, now it's crashing as soon as it launches again.

I appreciate your prompt response, @AVIDPgh. Allow me to assist you further and give you the best route for the issue you're encountering right now.

As per my colleague above, there's an ongoing investigation right now about the QuickBooks Mac 2024 on Sonoma, causing Crash Catcher when opening. The documented workaround is to utilize the Command button when opening the file to prevent the home page from auto-opening.

Since it didn't work on your end, I'd recommend getting in touch with our Customer Support Team to let them know that you're experiencing the same issue and that you'll be added to the list of affected users. This way, you'll be prioritized in receiving email updates about the ongoing investigation.

I understand that this can be disheartening but please know that our Product Engineers are currently working diligently to address this matter and find a resolution as quickly as possible.

Moreover, I've included these articles to help you learn what's new in QuickBooks Desktop 2024 and find out what your computer needs for the best experience:

Thank you for your understanding and trust in our support. Should you have any further questions or require additional assistance about this issue, please do not hesitate to reach out. I'm here to support you all the way and provide the information you need. Keep safe.

Sonoma Update Crashed QB Server

The known issue is with Quickbooks itself, specifically the home page.  My issue is with Quickbooks server and command doesn't fix it.

It seems to fix it I have to remove the plist file for QB server every time I want to load it.  It will only load once, then crash on subsequent loads.  Hopefully a future patch fixes this issue.
