Transfer Company file

I was running Quickbooks 2018 Enterprise Desktop (a real overkill for my small business, but it was cheap when I needed it). Now I changed computers and needed to update to 2024 Pro Desktop.

Any secret tricks to transferring my company file (since QB doesn't seem to want to allow it)?

You need to purchase a 3rd party service to cross-grade your company file from Enterprise 2018 to Pro 2024. You should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA for details.

Transfer Company file

We know a way to move your company file to another computer, Lyndon. Let us help you by following the process below.

Yes, it's possible to transfer a QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2018 Enterprise file to QuickBooks 2024 Pro Desktop. However, it's not a direct upgrade. We can use a third-party service or the Migrator tool to facilitate the transfer. Also, please note that we're unable to open a file from a later version of QBDT in an earlier version of Pro, and vice versa.

With that said, create a backup of your company file before transferring it to secure your data. Once you're ready to update your file, here's how:

  1. Open your new version of QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Go to the File menu and select Open or Restore Company.
  3. Choose Open a company file, then Next.
  4. Find your company file. Select it and then select Open.
  5. Sign in to your company file as the admin user.
  6. Click Update Now.
  7. Click Done when QuickBooks finishes.
