Hello there, @drlange.
I appreciate your efforts in troubleshooting the issue you encountered while migrating your data from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO). Allow me to share the possible reasons for the error you encountered.
Possibly, your subscription to QBDT 2022 may have expired, or your QBO account is not new.
When migrating from QBDT to QBO, ensure first your QuickBooks Desktop is active. Next, make sure your QBO account is not more than 60 days old and that the QuickBooks limit is not more than 75,000 targets.
If your QBDT has expired, you can download and install a free trial or use a migration tool to move your data.
Additionally, you can visit this article on how to move your books from QBDT to QBO with an online tool: Move your books to QuickBooks Online with an online tool.
Moreover, I'm adding this helpful article as your reference to learn more ways of handling your QuickBooks data: Learn how features and data move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.
Come back to this post if you have other concerns or follow-up questions regarding moving data from QBDT to QBO. I'll be here to lend a helping hand.
Run the Condense Data utility with any scenario. Did you encounter any error message?
