Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release

Hello handyfamily,

We've received reports regarding the QuickBooks Online app showing blank pages after the update. This has been raised to our engineers and they're already working for a fix. For now, I'd recommend contacting our QuickBooks Customer Care Team. They'll add your profile to a list of affected users and keep you up to date about the issue. You can reach them through this link: Get Help with QuickBooks Online.

I'd appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this.

Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release

I have Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2019 installed on two computers. One computer automatically downloaded and installed R8 (prompting first to do the intall). My second computer is stuck on R7 and even after trying to force an update by "resetting all", it will still not update.  I see that R9 is out there now as of June 2019, but neither of my computers are getting that when I try manually updating.  Both are set for "Automatic Updates".

Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release

Let's make sure your QuickBooks is updated, @PerryK.

You're right. The Release 9 (R9) has been updated and implemented this month of June. However, this happens gradually to all computers and users.

Let's try some more steps to update the program!

First, let's end your QBW32.exe QuickBooks running application or processes on your Task Manager. It likely causes the problem of being unable to have the R9.

  1. Right-click the Windows task bar and select Start Task Manager.
  2. Click the Processes tab.
  3. Select the Name header to sort the processes alphabetically.
  4. Locate and select QBW32.EXE.
  5. Hit End Process.
  6. For changes to sync, restart your computer.

Next, log in as an admin and run the Reboot.bat tool.  This helps re-register QuickBooks-related .DLL and .OCX files in Microsoft Windows:

  1. Right-click the QuickBooks icon and hit Properties.
  2. Select Open file location.
  3. Then, right-click the reboot.bat file and choose Run as Administrator.
  4. Once it's completed, the reboot.bat file utility will automatically close.

After that, run the update tool once again on both computers. If you're still unable to get the updates, I recommend getting in touch with our Customer Care team. They have the screen sharing tool that will help streamline the investigation process.

That should update your QuickBooks to R9, @PerryK.

Let me know how it went or if there's anything else that you need about QuickBooks Desktop. I'm just a post away.

Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release

Hi there, Mibanco1527 .

Thank you for posting here in the QuickBooks Community.

To sort it out, let's reset the app data to clear the app's cache and confirm if the cache is causing the issue.

Here's how :

1. Select the Help icon at the top right.

2. Choose Reset App Data.

3. Wait a moment for the process to complete, and then close the app.

If resetting the App Data still doesn't work, I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
