Why isn't there a way to turn off ads in QBO?

So what has happened to the more than two years of complaints sent to your management team and engineers? Or are we just ranting to the clouds and/or getting automated responses?  I get weekly complaints from clients about this issue.

When I go to send invoices now, the green button has changed from "save and send" to "save and fund!"  This is VERY sneaky manipulation by Intuit, trying to get paying customers to pay more for banking services we don't want or need.  We will get paid when our customers pay us, we do not need you to "fund" our invoices for a fee.  Please remove this very obtrusive feature!

This is likely to cause a lot of users to change services.  We have trusted Quickbooks for decades to provide us with software--this is an abuse of that trust.

STOP THE BLOODY ADS!

NO I do not want FundThrough! or any other BS sold by Quickbooks. I have what I want, why do i pay money for advertising???? I am no longer referring quickbooks to anyone. Is everyone else aware that if you decided to go quickbooks online and you close down your business, you have to continue to pay quickbooks for 7 years so you don't loose your data??!?! what kind of Happy Horse Shi# is that.

Turn off my ads! and stop sending me to the feedback page that quickbooks ignores anyhow!

Why isn't there a way to turn off ads in QBO?

Just an FYI, the Intuit product developers have done nothing in regards to this as it has been an ongoing complaint from users for years.

Thanks.

Yeah, the "Please fill out the feedback" is the equivelent to "I am not allowed to actually help you, so lets dump your problem in the circular file".

I just got another pop up from something I have said no to several times. I am shutting down quickbooks online and moving to the desktop app. the online version just isn't worth it...

Besides, Quickbooks preventing me from doing a backup is crap. I am not going to keep paying you for 7 years if something happens to my business and I need to close or if I switch financial applications. Better to spend the time and money now to shut down QBO.

Personally I would never use a single product from quickbooks that I didn't have to because of these ads.

I'd pay whatever more for a lesser product than give them the satisfaction of getting a sale from this.

Long time user... 20 plus years... They do not care at all... how someone hasn't came by and knocked them off the top of the mountain with a better product is the most mind boggling.

Out of every company I deal with Intuit is by far the absolute worst and I would pay whatever to get away from them. 200/month to get ads pushed in my face while doing some of my most important tasks is ludicrous.

That is the worst part of it.  The ads are bad enough, but sneaking in that FUND button is the limit.

I switched to another software.

20 year user.

Was on Enterprise paying 3000/year.

Couldn't use Quickbooks Online because of the advertising. I tried several times and last time for nearly 3 months. The ads are insane!

Switched from Intuit and couldn't be happier. So glad I did.

I hope they come to their senses before I have to go in the same direction. For now I have posted this in Feedback: "Please remove the ads! I am paying top dollar for this product, there should *at least* be a very easy opt-out command in the settings. I see on the support page that people have been complaining about these for years. Bad things happen to companies who ignore the clear preferences of their customers. Thank you!"

Sadly, no, and it's pretty clear by now that they're not going to. Annoying paying customers with ads has somehow become acceptable business practice.

Intuit, why am I paying you each month to watch your ads while you interrupt my work? Do you want me spamming you while you try and do yours?

Please give your paying customers an option to turn off these incessive pop-ups so we can use your product without interruption and distractions. If I want a loan or different services, I'll contact you.

This isn't the experience we want you to have, jay87.

I would feel the same if something interrupted me while I was working. I understand how important it is for you to have the option to turn off pop-up advertisements while working.

The pop-up ads is to promote a feature that will enhance your QuickBooks experience. Turning it off is currently unavailable. You can ignore them by clicking the No, thanks, or X icons.

If you're using Google Chrome, you can follow this article to guide you on how to block the ads: Block certain ads.

Additionally, you can enable the pop-up blocker in your browser. I'll show you how.

  1. Click the lock icon to the left of the address bar.
  2. Select Site settings (Google Chrome) or Permission for this site (Mozilla browser).
  3. Hover to the Pop-ups and redirects section, and choose Block from the drop-down menu.

Here's how for the Safari browser:

  1. Open your Safari browser.
  2. Click Safari, then Preferences.
  3. Select Websites at the top
  4. Click Pop-up Windows on the left sidebar
  5. Then select Block in the pop-up menu for the website.

If there is anything further we can do for you, don't hesitate to post once again. We'll be right here to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Why isn't there a way to turn off ads in QBO?

If this isn't the experience you want me to have, then correct it by giving your users the ability to turn off ads. Plain and simple.

I do not use Google Chrome and I do not use Safari. I use Microsoft Edge.

The solution is clear, Intuit Quickbooks needs to give their users control over the software they pay for to either leave on or turn off these ads. Not tell them they can try and reduce the ads by changing settings in their browser. It's time to be a responsible software company and listen to your paying customers instead of supplying work arounds that rarely work at all.

I was able to get the ads to stop a couple of years ago because the pop up ads were so intrusive I literally could not get any work done.  I still get ads from time to time, but the frequency is at least 90% less than before.  Here's how you do it: file an official complaint with the BBB.  Intuit immediately got to work to resolve my issue as negative BBB remarks are highly detrimental to business.  Good luck!

I wholly agree with Jay87. It seems clear that a number of *paying* customers find the pop-up ads (in fact, any kind of ads) disruptive and happy to learn about "feature[s] that enhance [their] QuickBooks experience" on their own.

Bottom line: give us a setting to turn them off. This has been said over and over, but let's repeat it--QuickBooks is not a free platform like google, we pay and have the *right* not to see ads. Thank you! If Intuit is not willing to listen, maybe the customers should employ their energy more profitably and bring their complaints to the BBB.

I hear you, nicepipes.

I can only imagine your feeling knowing that the option to turn off ads in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is still unavailable. QuickBooks use pop-up ads to make the users aware that there are available features that they can take advantage of to have a better QuickBooks experience.

You may consider the previous representative's suggestion to block the ads using your Google Chrome: How to block certain ads from Chrome.

To help you with future tasks and tips when using QBO, you might want to visit our Help Articles.

Get back to me if you need help with something else. I'd be happy to assist. Enjoy the rest of the day!
