Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, Pam. I appreciate you for providing detailed information about your concern. I've got steps so you can completely register for a new PIN through QuickBooks Desktop.
I recommend setting up or enrolling in the IRS e-file program within QuickBooks Desktop. This way, you're able to register for your PIN.
Here's how:
- Go to Employees and choose Payroll Tax Forms & W-2s. Then, select Process Payroll Forms.
- From the Other Activities list, select Manage Filing Methods.
- Select Filing Methods. Then, select Enrollments under the Filing Methods screen.
- Choose IRS, then Edit.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. Then, verify your EIN and enter your company’s legal name and address. Then, select Next.
- Enter the name, job title, email address, and phone number of the person the IRS can contact about your enrollment and your payroll tax forms. Select Next.
- Choose Send Information.
Please know that you need to wait up to 45 days to receive your 10-digit E-file PIN. Your QBDT enrollment appears Accepted when the agency receives your enrollment. You’ll then get a 10-digit e-file PIN by mail.
