10-digit signature PIN for IRS e-filing 941 form

I have always paid and filed forms by e-filing through QB.  I got the message my 10 digit PIN didn't match my EIN.  So I mailed the 941 form and requested a new PIN.  After 6 months I called the IRS and found out it was returned undeliverable.  Well my address is still the same I get mail everyday.  So now the IRS is telling me I have to register for a new PIN through my software.  Can someone give me the steps to complete this process please?

10-digit signature PIN for IRS e-filing 941 form

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, Pam. I appreciate you for providing detailed information about your concern. I've got steps so you can completely register for a new PIN through QuickBooks Desktop.

I recommend setting up or enrolling in the IRS e-file program within QuickBooks Desktop. This way, you're able to register for your PIN.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Employees and choose Payroll Tax Forms & W-2s. Then, select Process Payroll Forms.
  2. From the Other Activities list, select Manage Filing Methods
  3. Select Filing Methods. Then, select Enrollments under the Filing Methods screen.
  4. Choose IRS, then Edit.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions. Then, verify your EIN and enter your company’s legal name and address. Then, select Next.
  6. Enter the name, job title, email address, and phone number of the person the IRS can contact about your enrollment and your payroll tax forms. Select Next.
  7. Choose Send Information.

Please know that you need to wait up to 45 days to receive your 10-digit E-file PIN. Your QBDT enrollment appears Accepted when the agency receives your enrollment. You’ll then get a 10-digit e-file PIN by mail.

Feel free to add a comment below if you have further questions or concerns related to your 941 in QBDT. I'll get back to you, Pam. Have a great day!
