Buy now & saveHi - I am working with a nonprofit client who had their QB online account closed more than a year ago and didn't back up any of their data. I want to confirm that this data is completely gone and inaccessible? I need to complete a financial review and am having a difficult time doing so without their QB data.
They also had a QB checking account and even more important than their account data, I need the bank statements from the checking account. How do I go about accessing them?
Can they log into QBO as the Primary Admin and resubscribe? If the answer is no, Inuit has deleted their data.
That is what I suspected. What about bank statements for QB checking?
Yes, lschla. Once a QuickBooks Online account has been closed for over a year, the data will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
QuickBooks provides a one-year read-only access period after cancellation; beyond that, the data will no longer be accessible.
For their QuickBooks Checking, some banks retain records of closed accounts for a minimum of 5 years, depending on the bank's policies and legal requirements. Since Green Dot is a banking partner of QuickBooks Checking, I recommend asking your client to contact them directly to request bank statements for the specific period you need.
Additionally, you can check out our QuickBooks Checking FAQ to get answers to frequently asked questions about QuickBooks Checking.
Moreover, if your client wants to consider giving QuickBooks another go, you can check out this article to learn how to resubscribe: Resubscribe to or reactivate QuickBooks Online.
I hope this helps you clarify the situation and access the data you need in QuickBooks from your client. If there's anything else you'd like assistance related to this issue, just let me know.
