Accidentally making a customer inactive

I made a customer inactive and it deleted their invoice. Even after making the customer active, I no longer see the invoice.  How do I get that invoice back?

Thanks

Accidentally making a customer inactive

Hi there, @jeffbonny.sr.I'm here to clarify things and help you resolve y our concern.

In QuickBooks Online, once you inactive a customer, you're unable to delete their invoices. If you really deleted it accidentally, You can recreate the invoice.

Here's how to create an invoice:

  1. Go to the + New button and select Invoice.
  2. From the Customer dropdown menu, select the customer.
  3. Fill out all the necessary information for your invoice.
  4. Then, Save and close.

You can refer to this article for more details: Create invoices in QuickBooks Online.

You can review all the activity changes on your account especially for the deleted invoice in the Audit log. Please keep in mind that the events recorded in the audit log are available for two years.

Here's how you can navigate to the audit log:

  1. Click the Gear Icon on the upper left pane and select Audit Log.
  2. Select Filter.
  3. Use the fields on the Filter panel to choose the appropriate UserDate, or Events filter to narrow the results.
  4. Select Apply.

To learn more about the audit log, you may check out this article: Use the audit log in QuickBooks Online.

In case your customer makes a payment on the invoice, you need to record the payment in QuickBooks.

Please don't hesitate to post a reply if you need anything else or if you want to learn how to manage customers and invoices. I'll be around. Take care!
