Accountant's Copy

I downloaded an accountant's copy to a flash drive.  My accountant said she followed procedures in opening my file until it requested "need a password to decrypt".  We have never had an issue with this before.

Also, I was never prompted to put a password in while downloading the accountant's copy.

We are both baffled where this encrypted pw is coming from...

Our discussion lead to removing restrictions and redownloading the accountant's copy.  I followed all steps and never was prompted for a secure pw.  The accountant still has the same issue on importing to her software.

Don't know if this makes a difference, but I did update my desktop pro from 2017 to 2020 in May.

Thank you!

Accountant's Copy

Hi there, Denise71.

Thanks for stopping by the QuickBooks Community, I can definitely shed some light onto whats happening between your version of QuickBooks and the Accountants copy. I'm so glad you included that last bit of information about updating from desktop pro 2017 to 2020 as that very likely is what is cause the issue. Ideally, you want your version and the Accountant's' copy using the same version or only 1 year apart. So I would suggest making sure both are updated to the latest version and release. I'm also including a helpful article about Accountant's Copies

If you still have trouble, or any other questions, you can post them below. Thanks again and have a lovely afternoon.
