Buy nowI am trying to add a new account to the Chart of Accounts in QBO for Craig's Design and Landscaping Services (this is for an online course I enrolled in for QBO)...and every time I attempt to do so, QBO prompts me to add "Tax Form Section*" information (please see below)...which of course I do not have because it is not a part of the assignment. I was issued a comprehensive QuickBooks Online textbook for academic year 2022-23 by Labyrinth Learning...and so far almost none of the pictures in the book match what I am seeing on my screen.
If anyone can help me with this, I would be greatly appreciative...
Thank you for enrolling to learn more about QuickBooks, @MessGN.
Let's finish creating a new account in the Chart of Accounts (COA) in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
You're correct that when adding a new account in COA, it will ask you to select a tax form. This section is required to determine what detail types best describe the transactions. They also assist you in classifying the various account types into "categories" so that you can easily see a breakdown of how your money is being used.
I know how concerned you are about this matter. However, you can just select any suggested tax form that best fits the transactions by drilling it down. Also, based on your statement above, I can see that you're using a QBO Test Account. Thus, selecting a form from the section will not affect the actual tax filing.
The QBO Test account is intended for users who want to become acquainted with the navigation. However, any actions taken within will not affect actual business transactions.
Moreover, finish your task by referring to this article. This includes detailed steps and information about setting up a new account: Add an account to your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online
Once done, you might get assigned to categorize and reconcile them. This will help you ensure that the books are accurately balanced.
Feel free to add a reply if you have more concerns about creating an account. I'll get back as soon as I can. Have a good one!
Thank you for your response @RoseJillB , I very much appreciate it. Yes, you are correct that I am in the QBO Test Account (this is the first assignment in this class...) Still, the only problem I have when it prompts me to include a tax form, is that it doesn't give me any options to fill in nor does it allow me to write anything in...? Therefore, I can't actually add a new account because of it...does that make sense?
