Buy nowI am unable to add a reconcile icon/shortcut to the tool bar like I have been able with other menu items. I open Reconcile from the drop down menu. Then when I click view, I get a "ding" error. I have been able to add the icon in other company files. I have run the QB Tool Program Fix a couple of times. And it only seems to be for Reconcile.
Hi there. You need to reset your window settings to resolve the "ding" error that is blocking your toolbar. This error occurs when QuickBooks believes a window is already open in the background. This clears the hidden error and lets you add the icon just like your other files.
QuickBooks operates on a "one-at-a-time" logic for certain menus. When you hear a "ding," the program is telling you that the View menu is locked because it thinks you are in the middle of a task. Since this issue occurs only in one company file, it may be that the file has a "stuck" window preference that needs to be reset.
To reflect this accurately on your screen, you'll want to clear your current workspace. You can add the shortcut afterward. Click the Window menu at the top and select Close All. This forces all hidden windows to shut. Then, open the Reconcile screen from the Banking menu. While that screen is visible, click View and select Add "Reconcile" to Icon Bar.
With this process, the Reconcile icon will stay on your toolbar for one-click access. Additionally, your workspace will remain free from hidden errors, and your books will stay organized. Let me know if you need further assistance!
RE: I open Reconcile from the drop down menu. Then when I click view, I get a "ding" error.
This is because the first reconcile window, titled "Begin Reconciliation", is a modal window, meaning you cannot click behind it.
To add reconcile, proceed to the next window, the main Reconcile window, and then you can add it (because it is not modal.)
RE: You need to reset your window settings to resolve the "ding" error that is blocking your toolbar. This error occurs when QuickBooks believes a window is already open in the background.
That is incorrect. It is not how either Windows or QuickBooks works.
