Admin password

You are using QB Desktop 2019 Pro or Premier, correct? What year version of QB Desktop does he have? QB Desktop 2019 for Mac or else?

To clarify, can you send us a screenshot of the exact page that the password field is popping up on? 

In the meantime, please try the computer password for the device that they are on and the password of the primary admin. Review this guide about users and restrictions in QBDT.

Thanks for replying so quickly. This is as good as I could get it.  It came as an ING file and could not send it.  Had to take a picture and scan it. Hope you can read it.

You need to install QB Desktop 2024 Pro Plus/Premier Plus to upgrade your company file before converting it to be open on QB Desktop 2024 Mac Plus. Another option, you should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA and they can help to resolve your problem.

I appreciate what you've done so far, @LOX. We can reset the password of the file you’ve converted from QuickBooks Desktop, which is asking for a password that wasn’t set up. Let's get into the details.

Based on the screenshot you've provided it seems that you've already converted from QuickBooks Desktop for Windows file to QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. When transferring from QuickBooks Desktop for Windows to QuickBooks for Mac, the program doesn’t import users but creates a Migrated Administrator user with the original admin password. When it prompts for a password you didn’t set up, the new treasurer can reset the admin password.

Here's how:
 

1. From the Password field, select the lock icon. You’ll see a pop-up menu listing recovery email addresses.
2. Choose an email address you have access to, then select OK.
3. You’ll get an email from QuickBooks that will guide you through creating a new admin password.
