Buy nowWith the new forced payroll automated tax filings and payments many have said that they will be leaving QuickBooks because Intuit pulling funds from users bank accounts months before they are due to the tax entity is untenable. Online payroll fine, but I was and still am a desktop user for mostOn top of that change I have been seeing a frightening number of users talking about months of missing transactions in their QBO files. Intuit is removing our ability to control things within our files but they are making too many mistakes for anyone to be comfortable with that. There are many accounting software/platforms but which are robust and offer multi state payroll? What accounting software are accountants and bookkeeping services looking to move to?
Are you currently using QB Desktop + Intuit Online Payroll?
As a business with a lot of clients, I use both Desktop and QuickBooks online for accounting, and Intuit Online Payroll.
For QB Desktop, I recommend our clients switch to Payroll Mate to reduce expenses and renew their QB Desktop licenses through a reseller to receive cashback. They can import payroll data as IIFs, and they can use the trial version of QB Desktop Enterprise Gold to access their historical payroll data.
Since Intuit doesn't intend to continue Desktop, which is a travesty since it is so superior to QBO, in preparation for its ending does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative to QB Desktop? Obviously yes, the changes to Online Payroll have me looking for an alternative for payroll but based on users reporting losing months of data in QBO, which this alone is unacceptable, there are a myriad of other problems with QBO that users are reporting making moving away from Intuit as a whole seems like it is inevitable.
I'm still confident they'll release QB Desktop 2027 Enterprise this year. As an accountant, I've found a solution to keep client costs low after they decide to upgrade from Pro/Premier. A more challenging issue is when you need to replace Intuit Online Payroll. Only a few third-party payroll apps offer data conversion.
I appreciate the feedback. I have already had one client dump QB Enterprise and move to a new software because their shipping module was broken for over a year and they basically had no plans to fix it. I am not really confident that they are truly supporting Enterprise since in this case they didn't. As bad as Intuit is managing user data, their applications and customer support I sadly just don't have any faith in Intuit products anymore.
