This is the error, and it's happened before.  Synchrony is blaming QBO, which I believe because the last time this happened someone in the QBO team had to connect to Synchrony's team and it took a few weeks to fix.  
It's been down since 6/16.  I can log in fine via the actual Synchrony site, but QBO is incapable.  No, there is no additional 2fa or anything on the account which could cause a hangup. 
Just need QBO to communicate with Synchrony better because this stinks out loud.

Utilize the trial version of MT Online to isolate the issue. It is designed to import into any bank or credit card in QuickBooks Online, so there is no specific setting needed. If the same error persists, there is an ongoing problem at your bank or connection.

No offense, but I shouldn't need third-party tools to fix an issue originating with QBO.

 

It was an issue between QBO and Synchrony 3 months ago, and it's the same issue now.  It would be great if they could just keep the connection working for longer than a month before breaking it again for 3-4 months.

Please know that resolving banking issues is a collaboration between your bank and QuickBooks. Error 503 usually means that the page or resource is unavailable. Most of time, it happens when there is a maintenance, a bug in the server's code, or a sudden spike in traffic that causes the server to become overwhelmed.

 

There are also times that issues in your browser can cause the error. In that case, you can use a different compatible browser (Chrome, Mozilla, Microsoft Edge) or use these keyboard shortcuts to start an incognito or private browsing session:

 

  • Ctrl Shift  for Google Chrome
  • Ctrl Shift P for Firefox
  • Control Option +if you're using Safari
  • Ctrl Shift P for Microsoft Edge
