AMEX Integration

Hello - we use QB online and have an AMEX Business card. Need help finding a solution that allows for expense management. In others words I would like the employee to be able to use a system to tag certain AMEX transactions for a job name/invoice then be able to integrate that input into QuickBooks jobs. Any solutions?

AMEX Integration

Thank you for reaching out about integrating your AMEX Business card with QuickBooks Online (QBO) for improved expense management. I understand you're looking for a solution that allows your employees to tag AMEX transactions with job names or invoices and seamlessly integrate this information. I'm pleased to offer guidance on streamlining this process for your organization.

To begin with, follow these steps to establish a connection between your AMEX Business card and QBO. This integration will reduce manual entry and enhance accuracy by ensuring all transactions are categorized according to your preferences:

  1. Click the Transactions tab in the left corner.
  2. Select Link account.
  3. Search for and select American Express.
  4. Enter your AMEX credentials to initiate the sync.

To enable your employees to manage AMEX transactions effectively, you can grant them appropriate user permissions in QBO. It will allow them to access the necessary features for tagging and categorizing expenses.

Here's how to assign permission:

  1. Navigate the Gear Icon and select Manage users.

  2. Click Add user and enter the employee's name and email address.
  3. From the Roles dropdown menu, select the appropriate role for the employee.
  4. Review the features this role provides access to (you can expand each section for details).
  5. After verifying the assigned role, hit Send Invite.

For more information on managing user permission, refer to this article: Add and manage users.

You’ll want to assign a job name or project to a bank transaction, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Transaction menu and select For Review.
  2. Click the downloaded transaction you'll need to add a job name.
  3. In the Vendor/Customer column, tap the dropdown arrow and add the job name.
  4. Hit Save.

Once done, you can categorize the transaction to assign job or projects in QuickBooks Online.

@wvanderark

You can use a 3rd party expense management app to integrate with QBO.

Thanks. Do you have a recommendation on a good 3rd party to use to integrate?
