Thanks for providing a detailed explanation, @TomD451. Allow me to guide you on how to offset the deposit.
Since you already created a deposit, we can create a check transaction. Here's how:
Then, reconcile the deposit and the check transaction.
Moving forward, you can use the Transfer Funds transaction for moving your funds. Doing so will create a money-in and money-out transaction for seamless transfer.
Additionally, ensure you reconcile your accounts regularly to keep them accurate and up-to-date.

I followed your recommendation and when I went to do the bank rec on the new account the deposit amount appeared again on the right side under deposits and credits with no corresponding expense on the left to balance it out. This is the procedure that I followed:
1: Banking tab to Deposit - deposited from the old account to the new one.
2: Banking tab to Write a Check - Entered a check from the old account payable to the new account
Thank you for following the steps provided by my colleague, TomD451. I know a way for you to balance your deposits and expenses.

I understand what you are saying but when I enter the check using the old checking account and referencing the new account in expenses it shows not on the left side in the rec but the right side where the original deposit was made.
Hi, @TomD451.
Thank you for reaching back out to us and providing more details about the issue you faced. I'm here to share additional information about writing a check and processing reconciliation.
When writing a check for the new checking account, it'll show as a payment or a check created for the old account. Then, it'll show as a deposit to the new bank or checking account as it'll serve as the Opening Balance Equity. Once done, you can manually reconcile the account.

"when I enter the check using the old checking account and referencing the new account in expenses it shows not on the left side in the rec but the right side where the original deposit was made."
Are you expecting to see the check and the deposit on the same reconciliation? The deposit will show on the right side when you reconcile the new checking account and the check will show on the left side when you reconcile the old checking account. They won't both be in the new account.
Yes. Your advise has helped me.
