Is it possible to set up barcodes tied to different unit of measures for each item?
For example, we use a co-packer to make BBQ Sauce. We sell as eaches (e-commerce) or as cases (wholesale), but all product is received in as cases(6 eaches per case). Our base level unit in QB is eaches.
We want to integrate using barcode scanning, but at receiving we could only scan a case barcode, rather than an each.
Hello there, @Mfenn05.
You have posted twice in this forum with the same concern, but don't worry because my colleague has already provided a solution to guide you in integrating barcode scanning for sub-items. You can visit this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/other-questions/re-how-to-setup-and-print-item-bar...
Feel free to post a reply to this thread if you have further questions about generating barcodes in your QuickBooks account. Keep safe and have a great day ahead!
We have Quickbooks Enterprise. This does not answer my question.
The barcodes would be different for each. The problem is, we don’t want the final unit of measure (case) to always be the final sale item. I’d need to sell units, which I would never scan in (recevieve). I’d be receiving cases, to somehow end sale eaches.
Is there not a way to tie a barcode to a unit of measure. For example,
Unit UPC: 0066559100176
Case GTIN: 10665591000173
**case includes 6 units
I understand how to set the unit UPC. However, I cannot receive cases into inventory (OR SCAN a case GTIN on a master case because that is not tied to an item).
Looking to tie a master case barcode to a unit of measure – so when scanned, inventory will log 6 eaches(units).
I need to be able to receive in cases, and invoice as eaches and cases.

Thanks for the response, Mfenn05.
I can see how the feature to set a barcode to a unit of measure can benefit your business. However, the option to do so is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop. To address this, I'd recommend checking out the available supported apps that could help you with the task here.
As a workaround, you can create an Inventory Assembly for the case and designate a barcode for it. This way, the system will record that you received 6 units of the item and deduct them accordingly when you use or sell them.
Here's how to do this:
