Yesterday, we called Intuit tech support because we had issues with our payroll update not going through. I spoke to someone in the USA who tried to help. However, my shift ended so I told her I had to go. She gave me a few troubleshooting steps to take later. The next day, I received a call from someone that sounded like he was from India. He claimed to be an Intuit tier 2 tech support agent and said we had called about issues with payroll the day before and that he had an open ticket and could help. He wanted me to go to Google and then LogMeIn123 so he could gain access to my computer. I asked him what about the Glance session within QuickBooks? He said it wasn't working. That it was undergoing updates and said I needed to go to LogMeIn123 so he could have full access to my computer to fix it and not just screenshare. I told him I couldn't do that since the prior rep never said she was escalating our issue and that we would get a call back from tier 2 tech support. I told him his call was an outbound call, I didn't call Intuit, he called me, so I had no way to verify this wasn't a scam. He said he would close the ticket then and we hung up. A few hours later, I got this email:

Please note there was an embedded link for the email in "contact us" that does not lead to an intuit website but a ct.sendgrid.net website.
I called Intuit and the rep I talked to said our Payroll was never cancelled and that all this was probably a scam. However, it is very concerning to us that people within Intuit have access to our call information and are using it to scam us. Can you please confirm if this is a scam or not?
It is so scary because they obviously have a leak in their system somewhere. I had the same thing happen to me but I had called the Intuit phone number directly from a Google search. And it was routed to the scammer in India. They wanted me to download the 1 2 3 log me in thing also! And I said no way! This usually goes through glance. And then I hung up! If someone calls in that has no clue about the glance network, they are going to use that 123 log me in thing! So scary! This has been going on so long with Intuit and they literally have not done a thing about it!
Thank you for posting this. Yes, it was a scam. I don't know why QB does not get this issue under control. You did the right thing by calling to verify your account was okay and putting a post on here so others are aware.
Congrats... you've met the QB scammers that have plagued us for years and cost QB customers millions of dollars but QB won't to anything to stop it. I suspect that they are run from the same offices in India.

Use the money you basically EXTORT from your customers by your 'software as a service' scheme to actually do customer service! As soon as there is a viable alternative, everyone will leave you because of this!

And still everyday there are popup ads everywhere in the software (that I pay way to much for) trying to entice me to "connect bank accounts". NO WAY, NO HOW. That's never gonna happen Intuit when you can't even keep a simple phone call with a client secure.
I am soooooo concerned!!!! Today the owner of the company got a call from a "QB support person" and she asked me to handle it because she was talking about updates and issues of not syncing with QB server.
I gave her my cellphone number and the call was clasified as a scam. I called 850-394-9706 x159 and after she informed me about updates she transferred me to the IT support. She asked me if I was getting notifications of errors and said no. Both of them with an Indian accent and hard to understand. The "tech" was kind of aggressive and it was bothering me. I stupidly gave her access to my computer and she was telling me that we had to pay for user license. I told her that we already paid the subscription and she said we paid for the application not for licenses. I really feel so stupid!!! I would have actually checked first the website and get the information from there! She wrote on a notepad the subscription amount for 1, 2 or 4 years. It looked like the company was going to pay about $3K for QB online subscription with up to 5 users.
What bothers me the most is that I think they got files from my pc regarding QB. I told the owner (who is a friend) and she got so upset at me (with reason) when I let her know that I let them to connect to my pc! I was soooo upset at myselt and nervous! The owner then called QB and gave her the details. I have no updates because she is still with QB on the phone.
But why I was so stupid and let them remote in to my pc!!!!! These people are incredibly tenacious and liars!!!
I think the best would be for the owner to have another account! Oh my goodnes... I hope that this could be resolved and nothing is lost! I hate to be in this and worst beacause of my stupidity!!!!
happened to me too. red flag alert: anyone with an Indian accent named Johnny, run for the hills. we should start droning Indian call centers.
