Can I edit a payroll tax overpayment that was marked incorrectly in Quickbooks as being applied to next period but was actually requested to be refunded?

The item was marked incorrectly under the resolve tax overpayments feature in QBO so it is applying to the next period instead of being a refund.

To answer your question, yes you can edit your payroll tax overpayment in QuickBooks Online. You need to delete the tax payment you made so you will have the Pay Taxes option again.

Here's how:

  1. Click Taxes in the left panel.
  2. Go to Payroll Tax.
  3. Click View Tax Payments you have made and delete it.

I also need to undo a resolved overpayment of Federal taxes. However, there is no option to Delete after following your instructions. Please advise.
