Can I reallocate part of an expense value to a project using a general Journal? If not a general journal, then how can I reallocate please?

This is an expense from last quarter, so I cannot alter the original entry.

Yes, you can allocate a portion of the expense to a project using a journal entry, @info2185.

Before proceeding with the steps below, I recommend consulting with your accountant to determine the appropriate account to use when creating the journal entry to reallocate the expense.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Click on the +New button and select Journal Entry.
  2. Filter the date and consult your accountant for the appropriate account.
  3. Input the amount in the Debits and Credits section, along with a description.
  4. In the Name column, choose the project to which you want to allocate part of the expense.
  5. Fill in any other necessary details and then click Save.

Afterward, check the projects section to confirm that the selected account has been reflected. Here’s how:

  1. Navigate to the left panel and choose Projects.
  2. In the Search section, enter the name of the project you used.
  3. Under the Overview section, verify that the account or amount is visible below.
