Can you import inventory adjustments into Quickbooks?

I have over a 1000 line items that need to be adjusted. I was hoping there was an import template for this purpose.

Can you import inventory adjustments into Quickbooks?

Hi, Jennifer.

Instead of making inventory adjustments line by line, let's use the Import Data feature in QuickBooks Online (QBO). We can create an Excel file for the items, make the necessary changes, and upload the data.

Please ensure that the details are consistent and the quantity of each item is accurate and updated, as the previous entries will be overwritten once the import is complete.

You can follow the steps below:

  1. Create an Excel file.
  2. Go to the Gear icon and then select Import data.
  3. Choose Products and Services from the Select record type dropdown, then click Import.
  4. Select Import CSV/Excel.
  5. Under Upload your CSV or Excel file, click on Browse and select the one you've created, and click Next.
  6. Make sure the mappings are correct. Then, hit Next.
  7. Place a check mark beside the Check this box to overwrite details of existing items with the same name and category to replace details of existing items in your account.
  8. Once done, select Save.

Please note that after the import is finished, it cannot be undone.

For more information on how to import products and services into QBO and their required formatting, please visit this article: Import your products and services.

I also recommend providing feedback to our Product Engineers regarding the functionality of the import template for inventory adjustments within your account. Sharing how this feature benefits your business can help us improve the program's features.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and then select Feedback.
  2. Enter your thoughts in the description box.
  3. Once done, click Next.
