Can you migrate from Quickbooks Online to Quickbooks Desktop?

Yes, we can, fsalai.

Before proceeding, make sure you've already downloaded and installed QuickBooks Desktop on your computer. If you don't have a license, you can use the File Restoration Tool for the process.

Then, sign in to your QuickBooks Online account and download the migration tool. Here's how:

  1. Click the URL and replace anything after /app/ with exportqbodatatoqbdt. The URL should say https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/exportqbodatatoqbdt
  2. Select Enter on your keyboard.
  3. You'll see an Export Overview window, then select Get Started.
  4. Select the Download tool button.
  5. Once done, launch the tool to install it, then select Next.
  6. Accept the terms in the license agreement and select Next.
  7. Select Complete as the type of setup, then Next.
  8. Click Install, then Finish.

Once done, you can now prepare the file for export. For the detailed steps, follow Step 3 in this article: Move your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop.

You can check out this article to learn how the data move to the desktop version: How Your Books Move.

After migrating your file, you can cancel our QuickBooks Online plan if you no longer need them to avoid any charges.

Please keep us updated if you need additional assistance with the process. We want to make sure the migration goes smoothly.

Can you migrate from Quickbooks Online to Quickbooks Desktop?

Hi there, @katklu.

I hope you're doing well! Thank you for joining this thread. I'm here to help you identify why nothing happens when clicking the Get Started button. I want to ensure you can export your QuickBooks Online (QBO) data to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Unresponsive or broken buttons are usually a result of too much accumulated historical data. Whenever you visit a website, it saves some information from the web page in its cache and cookies. These files allow the websites you visit most often to load faster. Not to worry, clearing them will do the trick.

First, let's try accessing your account through an incognito window to rule out the possibility of a webpage issue. You can refer to these shortcut keys to open an incognito window in all supported browsers:

  • Chrome: Ctrl+Shift+N
  • Firefox: Ctrl+Shift+P
  • Safari: Command+Shift+N

After logging in, go to the export page and click Get Started. If it works, I recommend clearing your browser's cache so you can access QuickBooks with a clean slate. You can also use a different supported browser.

Additionally, you can check out this guide to increase your QBO experience: QuickBooks Online is Slow.

Let me know your result here or if you need further assistance with migrating your file. I'll keep an eye out for your response. Have a great rest of the day!
