Changing the tax year QB's Mac

How do I close the year in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac? I need to print 1099's but it's showing 2022 as the tax year. I have my first month in tax year reporting as January under My Company. I'm not seeing anywhere else that I can close a year or period.

Changing the tax year QB's Mac

Hello there, JRezabek. I understand you want to close the year in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

I'm here to help you set or change the close date in QuickBooks Desktop for MAC.

Here's how:

  1. Hover to Company and click Users and Passwords.
  2. Select Set Closing Date.
  3. Enter a Closing Date and Closing Date Password.
  4. Select OK.

Meanwhile, QuickBooks uses your fiscal year to set the date range for specific reports and graphs. If your fiscal year starts in July, reports should begin on July 1st.

To change your fiscal year, here's how:

  1. Select QuickBooks, then Preferences.
  2. Select the Company Preferences, then Reporting Info.
  3. Once done, close your Preferences.

Moreover, you can turn an estimate into an invoice in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. This feature saves time and effort by eliminating the need to create a separate invoice manually.

You can reach out to me by tapping the reply button below. If you need further assistance with closing your books or have any other concerns, I'm here to help.

What is your product version year? Supported versions 2021 through 2024 have all received updates for the new tax year, and additional updates will be going out shortly for 2023 through 2021 with small adjustments. You can go to the QuickBooks menu > Check for QuickBooks Updates to verify you are on the latest update for your version. The 1099 window will show 2023 as the tax year.

Changing the tax year QB's Mac

I have updated my QB's Mac software:  "QuickBooks 19.1.16.1140 R17.3 is currently the newest version available." But when I try to create my 1099s, it says it's for "Tax Year 2022".

After printing the resulting 1099-MISCs, it seems that the figures are correct for the 2023 tax year, inspire of the screen saying "Tax Year 2022". So my problem is solved, but lots of other users are probably experiencing the same APPARENT problem.
