Check register dates

There are transactions already entered by client far ahead (in time) of the date of the transactions I must enter into the check register.  When entering transactions it always shows the latest date entered which means I cannot not see the last transaction I entered myself.  Is there a way to change this view of the check register so that it stays (in time) where I am currently working?

Check register dates

Hello there, Indie518.

Let me provide options on how you can get back to the last transaction you've entered so you'll be able to continue recording your client's company data.

In your check register, you can sort your transactions by selecting the Order Entered option in the Sort by section. I can guide you how.

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Select Use Registers (Ctrl+R).
  3. Choose the checking account in the Select Account drop-down.
  4. Click OK.
  5. In the Sort by section, select Order Entered.

Once done, scroll down to the bottom to view the last transaction you've entered. I've attached a screenshot below for your reference.

On the other hand, you can also use the Find feature to locate the latest information you've recorded by pressing the Ctrl+F keyboard keys while you're in your bank register. From there, you can filter the account, date, and other options to narrow down your search. You can also make use of the Quick Report feature the same as what's shown in the sample screenshot below.

If you wish to reconcile several months or even years of your client's transactions, you can check out  this article for the detailed steps: Reconcile an account for multiple months or years of transactions and financial statements. It also contains important reminders before you start reconciling an account.

Please let me know if you have other concerns. I'm just around to help.
