Company Admin Password Issue

I have an issue with Quick Books and 1 of the 2 company's we actively use. For Company 1 the Admin password hasn't changed since 4/10/2020. It hasn't asked to be changed since then. For Company 2 QuickBooks 2020 Pro forced the Admin password to be changed 4/10/2020, 12/4/2020, 1/27/2021 and 3/3/2021. I've called in twice about this issue and no one at Intuit has an answer. Does anyone in the Community have one?

Company Admin Password Issue

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, Dee Dee 1! You have come to the right place for help! One company file may not ask you to change your password because it doesn't contain sensitive data such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, employer identification numbers, or those who have "Credit Card Protection". QuickBooks requires setting a password for extra protection and security, and that it must be changed every 90 days. The only way to stop password protection is to remove this sensitive information from the company file, which we don't recommend. You can check this article for additional reference: Password security for QuickBooks Desktop. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to let us know below. We are here for you! Take care and be safe.

Company Admin Password Issue

Hi Sasha,

First I'm sorry for such a delayed response. The company whose password hasn't changed since 4/10/2020 does NOT contain sensitive information as described in your reply, so this answers 1 of 2 questions. However the 90 day policy is not working for the second company. The second company's password was forced to be changed on 4/10/2020 (as with the first company) 12/4/2020, 1/27/2021, and 3/3/2021.

4/10/2020 to 12/4/2020 is 238 days

12/4/2020 to 1/27/2021 is 54 days

1/27/2021 to 3/3/2021 is 35 days

How do you explain this in light of passwords must be changed every 90 days for companies with sensitive information of which company 2 is such a company?

Thanks,

Dee Dee 1

Company Admin Password Issue

Allow me to join the thread, Dee Dee 1.

I'm here to share some information about password security.

There are several reasons why the system prompts you to change your password earlier than expected. One of them is the new Personally Identifiable Information(PII) update.

Also, there could be windows and security update done that caused a bug in the system. To further isolate this, I suggest reaching out to our QuickBooks support. They can check the account and report this issue for investigation.

Here's how to reach our support:

1. Go to https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.

2. Choose your QuickBooks Product.

3. Click your QuickBooks Version.

4. On the Contact Us page, click a topic.

5. Choose either Chat with us or Have us call you.

Check out the guide here if you need help resetting your password.

Add a comment below if you have further questions about passwords and security. We're always here to back you up 24/7.

Company Admin Password Issue

Hi Giovann,

Thanks for the PII info. Our Admin passwords meet the requirements. All users have passwords. QuickBooks Support has twice tried to help and failed, once for the 1/27/2021 password change and the other for the 3/3/2021 password change. The 2nd time for the 3/3/2021 password change, the rep suggested the community.

It there were a Windows update causing an issue, it should be affecting more than just us. I suspect it's a Quick Book issue and thus far they are clueless. If they have advanced levels of support to escalate to, no one mentioned it to me.

Thanks,

Dee Dee 1
