Compatability

Hi there, @chochorse.

Thank you for joining the Community. I'd be happy to help share the steps on how you can transfer the data to your new QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

If you're trying to upgrade the file to QuickBooks Mac 2019, the first thing you’ve got to do is set up your backup preferences.

Here’s how:

  1. Launch QuickBooks for Mac 2011.
  2. Go to QuickBooks then select Preferences.
  3. Select Backup.

Please take note the place where you save the backup file. After that, let's make sure your computer meets the system requirements before installing the new QuickBooks version.

Once done, you're ready to install and set up QuickBooks Mac 2019 to your computer. Finally, restore the company file.

Here's how:

  1. Double-click the .dmg file. A new window opens the "Ghost" drive.
  2. Drag the company file (with .qbXXXX extension) to the folder where you want to store the company file.
  3. Drag the Attached Documents Library folder (if applicable) to the same folder as the QuickBooks company file.
  4. Click the copy of the company file saved on the desired location, or go to File then select Open Company.
