Connecting to Power BI to QuickBooks Online returns empty tables

Hi,

I am trying to connect Power BI to QuickBooks online.  I am using QuickBooks Online admin account and can connect without a problem.  But the tables that QuickBooks is returning are all empty.

Does anyone know why this would be or how to solve this issue?

Thanks,

Demetrius

Connecting to Power BI to QuickBooks Online returns empty tables

This is not a Power BI issue. My user login is designated as Accountant in QBO, and the connector returns the tables associated with the accountant company instead of the underlying client company. I can confirm this by reviewing the company accounts table, which shows only the single row - the client company name.

Connecting to Power BI to QuickBooks Online returns empty tables

Hello there, Howard.

I appreciate you for clarifying that the connector returns tables associated with the accountant company rather than the client's company. I'm here to ensure you can download your client's table to QuickBooks Online efficiently.

To start with, you can ask your client to connect your PowerBI directly to QuickBooks Online so that both connections will read the appropriate data. This way, when you review the company accounts table, it will show the client's data instead of the associated accountant's company.

If the same thing happens, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online support so they can investigate this further and view what needs to be modified.

Other than that, you can also consider importing multiple invoices at once into QuickBooks Online.

Please know that we're always here to help you with any additional concerns you may have besides seeing different tables when connecting PowerBI to QuickBooks Online.

Connecting to Power BI to QuickBooks Online returns empty tables

If you're seeing empty tables when connecting Power BI to QuickBooks Online, here are a few things to check:

User Permissions: Ensure you have full admin access to the specific QuickBooks company you're trying to connect. If you're logged in as an accountant or have limited permissions, the connector might return empty or incomplete data.

Connector Limitations: The native Power BI connector for QuickBooks Online (currently in beta) doesn't expose all data tables—some, like "Check" or custom fields, may be missing.

Alternative Solutions: If you're looking for more comprehensive data access, consider using a third-party integration platform. For instance, Skyvia offers a no-code solution to extract and sync QuickBooks data to a data warehouse, which you can then connect to Power BI for more flexible reporting.
