Controlling the cursor in the register

When I edit a transaction in the register, the cursor will automatically move the the current date once the edit is saved.  I would like to keep it on the transaction just edited so I don't have to continually scroll down through all of the transactions to get to the next line item I want to edit.  This is new.  I used to be able to go through the register one line at a time when editing not sent to the top after ever line that was saved.  PLEASE HELP!!!

Controlling the cursor in the register

Welcome to the Community, @caroleef.

Thanks for letting us know about your concern. While a cache can speed up your browser, it can sometimes lead to issues with webpages, such as QuickBooks Online (QBO), not loading correctly. To ensure smooth functioning, I recommend accessing QBO in a private browser.

Let's do some browser troubleshooting to fix this issue in your QBO. You can access the private browsing window using the keyboard shortcut below:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: press Command Shift N

After opening your QBO in an incognito browser, try accessing your register and see if it is working. If everything is working fine, I recommend clearing your regular browser's cache by referring to this article: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, you can do this work around to see if there's going to be any difference.

On the Bank Register page:

  1. Click on the Gear icon, beside the Export to Excel icon.
  2. Under Other, choose between Show in one line or Paper Ledger Mode.
  3. After ticking any of the two options, simply click on the gear icon again or click at any space on the page to save your changes.

Here's an article on how to contact our Support team if the problem continues: QuickBooks Online Support.

Furthermore, you can check these articles for future reference:

If you have any concerns about your bank register or QBO-related problems, please leave a comment. We'll be happy to help you.

Neither option fixed the issue.

once the line item is saved, the screen automatically places you at the top of the register.
