Copying a Company File to a New Client

I have been trying for a week to copy one Quickbooks Online Advanced company file to another Quickbooks Online Company that was just created.   I followed the directions listed here: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/back-data/make-copy-quickbooks-online....  But I keep getting the following error.  I have done research on how to create the group it tells me to but do not see a way to do it.  The background to why I am doing this is:  I had one client purchase another client and the new client wants to be able to access the history of the previous client.  I have spoken to QB numerous times and they keep just telling me the engineers now this is a problem and they working to resolve, but it has now been over a week and I have not heard back.  In the meantime the new client can do now billing/invoices and is getting frustrated.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Copying a Company File to a New Client

You can convert your data to QB Desktop and convert it back to the second QBO account as a workaround. You will find that the results are not the same due to limitations during the conversion process but it is better than nothing. Otherwise, consider purchasing a third-party service to duplicate data.

Is there a third party service you are aware of that will duplicate the data in its entirety.  I looked into the online to desktop back to online option but it seems like there is to much loss for it to be a viable option.

Are there third party options you are aware of that copy the data over in its entirety?

Copying a Company File to a New Client

We appreciate all your efforts in trying to copy your Quickbooks Online Advanced (QBO) company to another one, nsarago. Let's connect you to the appropriate channel that can properly address your concern.

The details provided by our support team regarding the investigation are accurate. Our engineers are investigating the situation and working to find a permanent solution so that all affected users can make a copy of their QuickBooks Online (QBO) Advanced company smoothly.

To keep you in the loop on the progress of the investigation (INV-78684), I still recommend contacting our support team again. One of our specialists will gather your personal data and help you sign up to the list of affected users. You'll receive an email once there's an update on the issue. Follow the steps below to obtain the contact details:

  1. Open your company and click the Help icon in the upper right to display the support window.
  2. Go to the Assistant tab and enter a brief description of your concern in the Type something field.
  3. Tap the Get help from a human link and type a phrase or keyword in the What can we help you with? field.
  4. Press the Continue button to view the support options.
  5. Select Chat to connect to a live expert or Callback to speak with an agent.

In regard to a specific third-application service, the online program integrates with different apps to help improve your accounting processes. We treat all businesses fairly and recognize that each one has unique requirements. That’s why I’m unable to recommend which one to use.

Let's visit the QuickBooks App Center to look for an app that lets you duplicate your entire data. Simply enter a keyword in the search bar to speed up the process. For a better comparison, feel free to browse the customer's reviews and feedback.

Additionally, use this reference to walk you through the process of activating the Online Backup & Restore app: Back up and restore. There, you'll discover what data you can back up as well as what you can't.

You can also bookmark the following link in your browser for future use: Community guide. From there, you'll find resources to help your business thrive, as well as topics and answers related to your accounting tasks and QuickBooks.

If you need further assistance while working in QuickBooks or have additional questions about copying your QBO Advance company, please leave a comment below and tag my name. I'm always willing to help you. Have a good one.

Copying a Company File to a New Client

@Rasa-LilaM I encountered the same error during my first attempt at copying our company file. I created the bundle item "Reimb Group" in the target company, then proceeded to my second copy attempt. Now for the 2nd attempt, it got stuck and has been going on for 4 days now. Here is the ticket raised for my case (INV-127932), hope a resolution will be provided to our dilemma, as we're quiet behind on our recordings now.

Thank you.
