Using QB for Mac 2022 - When running Verify Data utility, QB comes back with a data problem. The report says "Verify Sales List: duplicate name = Michael S Holland (MSH)
I run the Rebuild Data utility and that completes without a problem.
I go to the Sales Rep List and there are 4 people listed: 3 are inactive and the other is Michael S Holland, which is me. And there is only one Michael S Holland listed. I right click and choose to edit the name, and immediately QB crashes.
The crash report window comes up, but nothing happens. Just a spinning icon on the bottom left saying it could take some time. After repeating the above sequence several times, I let the crash report up for 12 hours and still nothing.
I upgraded to the latest version of QB - Version V21.0.6 R7 - this morning and ran through the sequence above with the exact same results.
I am the only user of this software. My ultimate need is to export a copy to QB for Windows for my accountant. But the resulting file from the export has data integrity problems. Hence my journey above to rectify the problem.
Last year my accountant just used reports that I sent him to complete my corporate taxes, which is not ideal.
For what it's worth, my MacOS is at Monterey version 12.5.1
Thank you in advance for any help provided.
I appreciate all the steps you've done to fix why the system keeps crashing, Mke46.
Let's run another troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue further.
You'll have to ensure that you have updated QuickBooks Desktop for Mac to the latest released, so you always have the latest features and fixes. Here's how:
When the update is complete, QuickBooks for Mac automatically opens. From there, export the accountant's copy. For the detailed steps to export, you can check this guide: Use the accountant's copy.
I'm just a post-away whenever you have questions about the accountant's copy.
How big is your file size?
Your file is relatively small. You must be eligible for the license code for QBD 2023. Install and upgrade your file to isolate the problem. Make sure to secure the backup file first and don't uninstall your QBD 2022 just yet. If the same problem persists, your file is damaged. Chat Support and ask Data Service to fix your file. Otherwise, you must purchase a 3rd party file repair service.
