Creating Estimate from Project - Missing Customer Information

From a Project, select Add to project, then Estimate. The Estimate page renders and the customer email is filled in momentarily, then disappears. Is this a feature or a defect?

Creating Estimate from Project - Missing Customer Information

Hi there, diane_raber.

Thanks for turning to the Community for support. I'm happy to provide some info so you're able to create an estimate for a project in QuickBooks Online.

To rule out any browser related issues, I recommend clearing the cache first. The cache is used to collect frequently used data to make loading web pages quicker and easier. If it becomes too full it can potentially cause certain viewing and performance errors in the system. Clearing the cache will remove anything that's preventing the estimate page to load correctly. Here's how to get this done if you're using Chrome for example:

1. At the top right, click More (three vertical dots).
2. Click More tools and then Clear browsing data.
3. At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
4. Check the boxes next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files."
5. Click Clear data.

The following article provides similar steps for other browsers: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online

Please give this a try and let me know how things look afterward. I'm only a comment or post away if you have any other questions.

I cleared the cache, but am still experiencing the same behavior. I don't believe it is related to my browser. The issue was reported to me by one of my clients.

Creating Estimate from Project - Missing Customer Information

Let me walk you through the process of keeping the customer's email address displayed permanently on your estimate, Diane.

We need to switch to a different compatible browser for accessing your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account. This will help us investigate if the current browser is the issue or leading to the disappearance of customer information.

Here are the keyboard shortcuts in each browser:

  • Google Chrome: version 78 or newer
  • Mozilla Firefox: version 76 or newer. Note: To preview and print forms on Mac OS, you'll also need the Firefox PDF plugin.
  • Microsoft Edge: version 79 or newer
  • Safari: version 12 or newer (Mac only)
  • Opera: version 68 or newer

Once signed in, create the estimate for your project and check the customer's information, including the email. If you continue to get the same result, I recommend contacting our QBO Care Team for further investigation. In addition, they'll guide you in applying the permanent resolution to prevent the issue from happening again.

To get the support details:

  1. Navigate to the Help icon in the upper right of your company to display the support window.
  2. In the Assistant tab, enter a brief description of your concern in the Type something bar.
  3. Click the Get help from a human link to view support options.
  4. Choose Chat to initiate a conversation or Callback to speak with an agent.
