Custom Fields QBO

I want to use custom fields in QBO.  I use the new style invoice.  I set the custom fields up, but they don't show up on the new style invoice.  Is this something that just doesn't work with the new style invoice?  I also noticed tags don't show as an option on the new style invoice as well.  Please advise if I am doing something wrong or if it just isn't available on the new style invoice.

Custom Fields QBO

I'll help you show the custom field you create in your invoice sales forms, @yorkiemom2

I have some troubleshooting steps to help fix the custom fields not showing in the sales forms.

Are you using the old invoice experience and want to use the new style template? If so, the custom field will automatically show after you create them. If it still doesn't appear, take the following actions:

  1. Open the invoice form and click the small gear icon on the upper right.
  2. Select the Manage custom fields hyperlink.
  3. Make the custom field inactive, then re-activate it to refresh the settings. If you want to show the custom field when printing, ensure to turn the Print on form radio button.
  4. Hit Print or Preview to see what the forms look like.

Once confirmed and the issue persists, I'd suggest logging your account through incognito. This way, we can check if it's a browser-related issue. It sounds like your server was interrupted or corrupted. Sometimes, too much cache build-up in your regular browser can cause unexpected behavior in the product.

Refer to the keyboard shortcuts below:

  • Ctrl + Shift + N (Google Chrome)
  • Ctrl + Shift + P (Firefox)
  •  Control + Option + P (Safari)
  •  Ctrl + Shift + P (Microsoft Edge)

Once in, re-check the custom fields to verify if it's performing well. If it's solved, return to your regular browser and press the CTRL+ Shift and Delete keys on the keyboard to clear the cache.

If you're using the new invoice experience, showing the custom field is currently unavailable. I suggest switching to the old experience to continue using the functionality. No worries, you won't lose any of your existing transactions. Please know that we're working to build these features out for the new experience.

Go as follows:

  1. Go to the + New menu.
  2. Select the Invoice tab.
  3. Click Old layout.

Custom Fields QBO

Like my original post states, I am using the new style invoice.  So now I know that QBQ online developed a new style invoice but did not incorporate all the functionality of the old style invoice.

I do not want to use the old style invoice so I guess I will just wait until QBO catches up the new style invoice to all the functions the old invoice style has.  Thank you for your response.
