I have customers in QuickBooks and when it says the Customer job name it puts the personal name of the person and not the company name. I want it to show the company name as the job name instead.
It's hard to find invoices to mark them paid when we have a check from a company but then have to look up the invoices by a specific person.
Is there a way to do this?
Yes, edit the Jobs and replace the Job Name with text that makes it easier to apply the payments, such as a company name or location name - basically whatever about the job caused to you to create a Job in the first place.
Okay so Basically just Change the fields to be what I want them to be. I mean that makes sense for sure. Thanks for the info. Is there a way for the Job name to pull from the company name instead of the Person's name?
Thank you for coming back to the Community, mchilders56.
I recognize the challenge this makes your workflow for receiving and applying payments. Let me share an alternate solution to achieve your goal.
As BigRedConsulting suggested, you'll have to edit the jobs and replace the Job Name with information that makes it easier to apply the payments, such as the company name or location name. Also, there isn't a setting in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to have the Job Name pull from the Company name rather than the person's name.
Please know that the software is designed to associate jobs with a customer's name by default. Alternatively, you'll have to manually enter the company name beside the client's name.
QBDT offers job costing features that allow you to track the revenue and expenses associated with each task. These links provide complete details on how to utilize the resources to analyze the profitability of your jobs and handle sales-related entries:
Keep me posted if you have any clarifications about changing job names or need further assistance completing any accounting processes. I'll get back to help you the best that I can, @mchilders56.
Thanks for the confirmation on this. I will pass this along to my Boss and see how he wants me to move forward.
