Default Email Subject Lines Being Replaced by Intuit Assist - Unacceptable

When emailing an invoice in QBO, the subject line generated by Intuit Assist AI automatically replaces my default subject line. I have to manually change it back every time I send an invoice.

This directly affects the consistency of our business messaging, as well as that of our clients (we are a QBOA user) - which is unacceptable. Businesses should have full control over their default communication settings, and those should not be overridden by Intuit without consent.

There should be an option to disable Intuit Assist or prevent it from altering default configurations. Right now, it feels like it's being forced on users without adequate control or customization options.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community, pmoriarty.

To verify my understanding, have you already set a default email subject line from your Account & Settings?

If not, you can do so by using the Gear icon, going to Account and settings, Sales, then your Messages section. From here, you'll see an option titled Email subject line, where you can put customized text.

After setting up a custom subject line for emails, check to see if the one you set up is still being replaced.

I've also included a detailed resource about customizing invoices which may come in handy moving forward: Customize invoices

I'll be looking forward to your reply. Have a great Thursday!

Yes, we have a default set up exactly as you've screenshotted below.  Once we go to "Review and send", that default subject line is overwritten by one of Intuit Assist's suggestion.  Attaching a screenshot.  I have to manually change that each time.  There is no option to click on the Intuit Assist icon to ignore to change this setting.

For now, you'll only have the option to manually click your default email subject line instead of using the suggestion from Intuit Assist, pmoriarty. It would also be great to have the option to turn off the feature.

I suggest sending a feedback request to our product developers. They will review it and may consider adding this functionality in future updates.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Then select Customer form styles. Locate the Standard template.
  3. Select Edit. On the Content section, mark check the Description field.
  4. Once done, click Done

If you have other QuickBooks-related concerns, don't hesitate to reply to this thread. I'll be looking out for your reply.

@pmoriarty

That's terrible! An emailed invoice is not a "New payment request".  It's an invoice, which is not at all the same thing as a demand for payment. Was this designed by anyone who knows anything about business?

The inmates truly are running the QuickBooks Online asylum.

I 100% agree with this.  It's extremely annoying to have an AI override my chosen default setting and there is no way to turn this feature off.

This also adds much added time to our invoicing process as now we have to manually update the subject line on every invoice we send.

Quickbooks, please fix this!

Also in agreement. Intuit needs to look up what "Default" means.

I hate having to change it every time and I often forget, then my subject lines are inconsistent. And I often send more than one invoice to the same customer and it's unprofessional having two different subject lines for two different invoices.

Just stop messing with Invoices. It's gotten so much worse over the last year.
