Deleting Estimates in a Closed Period

I have a client who wants to delete and or close out old estimates for Customers.  I have closed the prior periods, so of course they are now being asked for the password to make the changes.  My question is do estimates effect the financial statements? If so then how do we delete of close out old estimates without changing prior closed periods?  I'm not too familiar with estimates in QB.  We are using the online version just an FYI

Deleting Estimates in a Closed Period

Hi there, @emyers1013.

Thanks for posting your concern to the Community page.

The estimate helps keep track of the sales price you have quoted. But it doesn’t mean it will affect your financial statements. An estimate is considered a non-posting transaction. This means when you record an estimate, you are not yet recording revenue.

It will only take effect the moment you convert it to the invoice. So we can expect sales from it already.

You can check this article about managing estimates in QuickBooks Online for additional information: Set up and use estimates.

Let me share this link that will give you an idea about customizing the information on your forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Deleting Estimates in a Closed Period

This provides an answer to why it's not critical to delete, but what if the customer still wants to? How does a user delete an estimate in a closed period?

Thank you for joining this thread, Tezz3404.

Yes, you can still delete an estimate if you haven't set a password for your closed books. Otherwise, if your accountant creates a password when closing the books, you'll need to contact your accountant to get the password so you can make changes to your books.

If you need more information about closed books, feel free to see this article: Close your books in QuickBooks Online.

Also, I can see you've made a duplicate post regarding this issue, and my colleague also explained and added some details about deleting an estimate during a closed period.
