Is there a way in desktop to set "SAVE AND CLOSE" as the default action when hitting enter?

Hi there, AJR1464. I understand the significance of setting a default action when finishing an entry in QuickBooks Desktop.

While it is more convenient to have that option, the ability to set the default action button is unavailable. It is intentionally designed to provide users with flexibility and control over their workflow. This design allows users to customize their data entry process based on their needs and preferences, though it may require a manual step to select the desired action (e.g. Save and Close, and Save and New).

I'm adding this article to learn more about the different customer transaction workflows: Get started with customer transaction workflows in QuickBooks Desktop.

So there isn't a way to change the default from "Save and New" to "Save and Close"?

The option to change the default action from Save and New to Save and Close when recording transactions is unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), AJR. I can see how the functionality would be beneficial to your business.

I'd recommend sending a feature request directly to our Product Development team. This helps us improve your experience and the features of the program.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu and then select Send Feedback Online.
  2. Choose Product Suggestion.
  3. Add the type of feedback.
  4. Type in your feature suggestion.
  5. Once done, click Send Feedback.

Additionally, I've included this article that'll give you a snapshot of your business. This way, you can ensure your record is accurate: Run Reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Let me know if you have concerns about other QuickBooks features and enhancements. I'll be right here to assist. Stay safe and healthy.
