Get 50% OFF QuickBooks for 3 months*
Buy nowI work from home in the EST time zone and work late doing invoicing but once I reach 8PM any invoices I process past that are generating as past due. I don't want to change every invoice I generate so I'm hoping that there is a cut off time somewhere in settings that I can just extend out so that everything I generate in that day (at least up until midnight) doesn't print "PAST DUE" on it.
Thank you so much!!
Carolyn
Currently, QuickBooks doesn't have the settings to cut off time, 3MD. QuickBooks only follows the timestamp in Pacific time. I'll provide a workaround below for what to do so that the invoice will not show as past due.
To avoid generating them as past due, you can manually adjust the date on their invoice. For example, when I create an invoice at 9 PM on May 20th, I would change the invoice date to May 21st. It ensures the system doesn't incorrectly mark the invoice as Past Due.
Moreover, you can change the look of your invoices if you want a professional-looking format in QuickBooks Online.
Additionally, there is an easy way to remind your customers about invoice due dates, either automatically or manually.
If you have any other questions about invoices in QuickBooks Online, let us know in the comments below. Your thoughts matter, and I'm here to help you.
I know the work around, thanks - but that doesn't help me much. I can generate 50-100 invoices late in the evening and I don't want to have to change the date on each and every one which is why I was hoping for a simple solution of just adjusting a system cut off time...here's to hoping for the ability to do so in the near future
I appreciate you sharing this concern in The Community forum,@3MD. I understand how the current system's limitations can be challenging for your invoicing process. Currently, QuickBooks Online (QBO) does not offer the functionality to change the system cut-off time.

That is objectively bonkers. The world does not do their books on Mt View, CA time.
I'll add this to my long, long list of reasons QuickBooks Desktop is better than QuickBooks Online. Near the top.
