Dont have QB Desktop, how to import Desktop file (from bookkeeper) to QB Online

Let me guide you on how you can import your desktop file to QuickBooks Online (QBO), garykh.

You can download a QuickBooks Desktop trial version so you can use it to import your file. Please know, that you'll have 60 days to move your data to QBO. Also, make sure that you've already signed in to your QBO account so it won't be creating a different company. If you're using the QuickBooks Desktop Pro or Premier trial version, follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in as an admin to the company file you need to import.
  2. Go to Company, then select Export Company File to QuickBooks Online.
  3. Select Start your export.
  4. Sign in as an admin to your QuickBooks Online company.
  5. Select Choose online company, and choose the QuickBooks Online company you want to replace with your company file.
  6. Select Continue.
  7. If you track inventory in QuickBooks Desktop:
  8. Enter Agree in the text field, then select Replace.
  9. Select Yes, go ahead and replace the data, then select Replace.

However, for the QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise version, I suggest starting fresh because some of your data might not move to QBO when using advanced features. For more information and detailed steps, check out this article for your guide: Move Your QuickBooks Desktop File To QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, once you've successfully moved your data, you can run reports and customize them to make sure you get the information you need. To know more about how this works, I've got this article for your reference: Customize Reports In QuickBooks Online.

Thanks for the detailed directions.

    Go to Company,
      Unfortunately, I did not see
"then select Export Company File to QuickBooks Online"
    as an option.
