Edit inventory Item name by multiple users

My company is using QBs Enterprise 18 with max 30 users. Recently, I have found that someone changed a name of one inventory item without notifying to any other users so that I could not find what was exact item name used before. Is there any way to track "who" changed a certain item name? When I looked at the quick report, I can see the transactions of invoice and sales order, but nothing about item name change.

Yes, this is easy to do and has been a feature since around the time Enterprise was launched about two decades ago.

Do do this, set up the user(s) with roles that allow creating items, but not editing them.

When setting up a custom role for this purpose it looks like this:

You'll need to check any roles the users currently have to ensure they don't have rights you don't want them to have.

No, there isn't a way to track who changed list records like items, names, accounts, and so on.

Thank you for your comment. Do you think I can restrict user to have "creating" new item but not allowing "edit"?

Re: Edit inventory Item name by multiple users

Hello there, peter_nam.

Thanks for responding and for sharing your thoughts with us.

Being able to restrict users to create a new item but without having the permission to edit it isn't possible in QuickBooks Desktop.

Since I want to make sure your suggestion gets to our product developers, I encourage you sending them feedback. This is a big help for us to determine the features that needs to be added to our product.

Here's how:

  1. Choose the Help menu.
  2. Click Send Feedback Online.
  3. Select Product Suggestion.
  4. Enter your feature request.
  5. Click Send Feedback.

You can check for the latest features available in QuickBooks Desktop by following the steps provided below:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Click New Features.
  3. Click What's New.

If there's anything else I can help you about managing users in QuickBooks Desktop, just let me know. I'd be more than happy to assist you further.

It is possible. And easy to do. And rather obvious. Do you not use QuickBooks?

Why send the customer off to put in feedback for a thing that already exists?
