Editing Estimates

I have had QuickBooks Online for over 4 years now. I run a home improvement company. Up until a few weeks ago, l've been able to edit estimates that I have started on my computer (I have to do it on the computer if I need a deposit from a customer since the deposit function is not available on the app). Well now, I am completely unable edit estimates entirely that were first created on my computer. Every estimate that needs a deposit, l've started on the computer first and then was able to edit and add things, including the deposit amount, through the QBO app. I can't edit estimates at all now on the QBO app that were first created on the desktop version on my computer. I've updated the app, restarted my iPhone, I have cleared the cache on the app and nothing is changing. Please help!

Editing Estimates

Hey there, @alex-raymes-outl.

Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the QuickBooks Community. How are you today? I hope all well.

This is definitely unusual behavior for the mobile app. Are you receiving any error messages when trying to edit an estimate? Is the option to edit missing? If you don't mind, please share as many details as possible. This will help me to narrow down the issue and provide the best solution for you.

While I await your response, let's go ahead and try some basic troubleshooting steps.

Since clearing the cache didn't do the trick, let's try installing the latest version of the QBO app on your mobile device to ensure you have the most recent features and fixes. Uninstall (tap and hold the app icon) it first, and then perform the procedure below to redownload it on your device.

If you're using an iOS gadget, follow these steps:

  1. Download the QuickBooks Mobile App.
  2. Open the App Store on your device and search for QuickBooks Online.
  3. Select Free, then Install.
  4. Use the same user ID and password to sign in to the app.
  5. You may be asked to enter a one-time code to confirm your identity. Once confirmed, you can continue into your account.

If you're utilizing an Android phone, here's how:

  1. Download the QuickBooks Mobile App.
  2. Open Google Play on your device and search for QuickBooks Online. This app works on smartphones and tablets. (It may not be available in some countries).
  3. Tap Install.
  4. Use the same user ID and password to sign in to the app.
  5. You may be asked to enter a one-time code to confirm your identity. Once confirmed, you can continue into your account.

After signing in, open and edit your estimate as usual.

I'll be sure to keep an eye out for your reply. Don't hesitate to let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Chat with you soon!

Editing Estimates

Thank you Tori, for the quick response! I tried deleting the app and re-downloading it. I did notice some cosmetic changes to the QBO app after opening it, however I am still unable to edit any estimate that I created using the desktop version on my computer. I am able to open the estimate and view it as if I was about to edit it, but every field is grayed out, not allowing me access to the fields. There is an error message displayed at the top of the estimate that states:

"You can edit or convert this estimate on the web

Estimates with deposit requests can't be deleted."

If l start an estimate on the desktop version on my computer, and I turn the deposit function

"off," then I am able to edit the estimates in the QBO app. This is new and I'm not sure what to do. I've always been able to edit all estimates with my QBO app.
