EMAIL FROM QBPOS 19

Is there a way to set POS 19 to email from mail other than outlook or outlook express? (such as an msn, gmail, yahoo mail account, etc.)

Hi there, cps422.

Let me help you set QuickBooks Point of Sale (POS) to send emails using other accounts aside from the Outlook.

By default, QuickBooks POS uses an Outlook to send emails. If you need to use other addresses, you can add an account within the Outlook program.

Let me show you how to do it.

  1. Open your Outlook mail.
  2. Click the File menu, then go to Info.
  3. Click Add account and enter your new email address.

After adding the new address, make sure to select it from the Account Information drop-down before sending emails in POS.

Don't hesitate to leave a comment below if there's anything else you need. I'll be right here to answer your questions.

We use an @Live.com as our e-mail, which is an outlook e-mail address (outlook.live.com to be specific).  The computer we use is a Windows 10 PC, and the version of QBPOS is 19.0 and I check updates weekly (it is up to date).  The Windows default app for e-mail is set to open our live.com account in windows mail.

When choosing to "Save & Email", or attempting to send as e-mail from the "I want to" drop down, the error comes up as follows:

Problem: An error occurred while attempting to send e-mail

Solution: Please verify that you have a default Windows e-mail client set up and configured properly.

I am assuming that I myself (operator error being the most likely here) have not configured it properly...what do I need to do to accomplish that?

Thanks for your help :)

Hello, cps422.

One of the possible reasons errors occurred when attempting to send e-mail, this is usually just a settings issue. Also, some causes of these are:

  • Incorrect email setting
  • Damaged MAPI32.dll file
  • QuickBooks running as administrator
  • Damaged QuickBooks installation
  • Damaged Outlook installation
  • Outlook opens in the background when sending email through QuickBooks
  •

To resolve this error, let me help you perform some other troubleshooting steps. First, you'll need to ensure that QuickBooks is not running as administrator. To achieve this, you may follow these steps:

  1. Right-click the QuickBooks icon, then select Properties.
  2. Select the Compatibility tab.
  3. Deselect Run this program as Administrator. But if this option is grayed out, click on Show Settings for All Users.
  4. Select Okay.
  5. Exit, then restart QuickBooks.

Second, you need to ensure that your email preference is set correctly in QuickBooks. Kindly follow these steps:

  1. Click on Edit from the menu tab.
  2. Choose Preferences.
  3. Click on Send Forms from the left panel.
  4. Select on the My Preferences tab.
  5. Toggle the options in the Send e-mail using box, then select QuickBooks E-mail.
  6. Click on OK.
  7. Close QuickBooks and all other programs.
  8. Restart Windows.
  9. Restart QuickBooks.

For additional information, you can go over on this article: How to fix "Error: QuickBooks is unable to send your email to Outlook".

If the issue persists, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Point of Sale Support Team. They're equipped with tools to securely look into your account and check the main cause of this. Please click this link to reach out to our support: Contact Point of Sale Support.

Keep me posted about the troubleshooting steps to fix the error you received when attempting to send an e-mail, I'd like to make sure this is taken care of. Also, click the "Reply" button if you have any other questions for me. I'd be happy to answer them for you.

Thank you for the suggestions!  I have tried several already...

I made sure all instances of Outlook were closed, not running in the background...

Run as administrator has been disabled in compatibility tab.

But setting the email preference is not an option I have.  There is no Edit>Preferences>Send Forms option that I can find in QB Desktop POS 19.  The only preferences are in the File>Preferences>Company section, and email is pre configured for Outlook...not editable.

Set email preferences in Internet Explorer, but I did not mess with the MAPI32.dll file or re-install POS yet, as I don't want to mess anything up too badly...

I'll look through those options, and perform some full backups first.

If those don't fix it, I'll contact Support.

Thanks again for the help :)
