Emailing

My ability to send invoices via email has stopped.  I am putting in the correct password.  I did have a message when I started up my computer this morning something about Intuit.  It didn't give a chance to check into the message, only option was to hit the X to close the window.

I have searched in several places to find out what is wrong with no luck.  I was able to check my Intuit subscription which is still active until 12/18/20.  I'm not sure how I got there because when I am in Edit, Preferences, Send forms it does not like the userid or password that I enter to check for valid subscriptions.  I am set up to use Web Mail.

When I edit my default email on the SMTP Server Details the Server Name is smtp.att.yahoo.com and the Port is 465 with SSL/TLS checked.

I’ll help you fix it so you’ll be able to send invoices again, @super7.

I appreciate you for searching for a solution and trying this issue to resolve on your end. Let me provide some steps here so you can get back into running your business.

First, we want to make sure your QuickBooks Desktop software is in its latest release. Updates contain important changes like new features, improves performance, stability, and security of the applications.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Click the Update Now tab.

  3. Select Get Updates to start the download.

  4. When the download finishes, restart your QuickBooks.
  5. Accept the option to install the new release when prompted.

Right after the update, please recheck the settings in the webmail preferences. Here are the steps:

  1. Click the Edit menu, then go to Preferences.
  2. Select Send Forms on the left panel.
  3. Under the My Preferences tab, select the email account you're using.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. Mark the SSL box, or just select Default.
  6. In the Server Name field, make sure the server name matches your email provider's settings. If you still see smtp.att.yahoo.com, change the name intuit.smtp.mail.yahoo.com and click OK.

In case you’re getting an incorrect password as an error message, please follow the detailed steps in this article to resolve this: QuickBooks Will Not Accept my WebMail Password.

You can also send emails using a sample company file to check if it's doing the same thing. I'll show you how:

  1. Go to the File menu and click Close Company
  2. In the No Company Open window, click the Open a Sample File button.
  3. Choose the sample company files you want to use.

Let me know how this goes. I’ll be right here anytime to assist you further.
