estimate approval

Since the last update, we know have customers that are being able to accept an estimate through quickbooks. We want to turn that option off as we don't get notified that a customer has approved.

Thanks for posting your question. I'm happy to show you how to turn off the option for your customers to accept estimates through QuickBooks Online.

This can be done in just a few steps. Here's how:

1. Go to the Sales tab and select Estimates.
2. Click Create Estimate.
3. Select the Manage button.
4. Click the Customization dropdown, then turn off the Estimate Status.
5. Select Review and Send.

Here's how this will look in your account:

I want to turn off the option for customers to accept estimates because my company requires a 50% deposit when approving a job. The customer gets confused because he accepts the Estimate but hasn't received the deposit, so the job can't get into production.

When I tried to follow the answer on the message to turn off the option under manage, Customization, Estimate status, I see I do not have this option, I only have the following options under customization

Ship to
Service date
Product/service
SKU

Welcome to the community, @Trust Bookkeeping.

I appreciate your following the instructions provided by my colleague above. I'm here to assist you further in turning off the feature that allows your customers to accept estimates in QuickBooks Online.

Here are the steps to display the Estimate Status:

  1. Click the Sales tab, then select Estimates.
  2. Go to Create Estimate.
  3. There is a gear icon for Manage, select it.
  4. Click Design and choose Modern.page 4.jpg

  5. In the Customization menu select the dropdown. It will show the option for Estimate Status and turn it off.
  6. Click Review and send.page 5.jpg

For future reference, if your customer agrees to the estimate you can convert an estimate into an invoice in QuickBooks Online.

Please feel free to leave your reply below if you have any concerns about the estimate. The Community is on standby, ready to provide support and guidance.

Thank you for the answer. I implemented the changes, but each time I try to send and review, the settings from the customization bounce back, and the estimated status reverts to active.

I appreciate the steps you've taken, Trust Bookkeeping. I can see how challenging it can be when customization settings don't stick, and I'm here to help you troubleshoot this issue.

When QuickBooks isn't behaving as expected, I recommend using a private or incognito window to rule out errors or glitches.

You can use the following keyboard shortcuts depending on your browser:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Shift + Ctrl + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N

If the above method works well, you can switch to your usual browser and clear your browsing history. Alternatively, you can use other compatible browsers for the best and most secure experience and ensure a stable internet connection to access QuickBooks Online.
